ABOUT
Author M.E.L. Busst was born in England in 1987, in a town called Abingdon, which is situated near Oxford. He moved to Poole in Dorset at the age of twelve and has lived there ever since. His flair for writing stories was acknowledged at the age of six when he entered a story-writing competition at his school and won first prize. He went on to write an entire series of stories as a child, which he constructed into books and hand illustrated. He would read them to lodgers or exchange students from overseas who stayed in the family home. The originals he has to this day.
Busst always struggled in school and was a quiet and shy boy. He found it hard to mix with other children. In 2011, he was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, and, although this finally helped to explain some of the challenges he faced in life, it hasn’t kept him from writing exciting stories.
M.E.L. Busst’s inspiration comes from his countless walks in the woodland and on the beaches of Dorset with his beloved dog Oscar. The natural beauty and tranquillity allows his imagination to run wild. ‘The Dream Planet of Galloway’ is the first of his books to be published, with more on the way.

Q&A
Q&A
Author M.E.L. Busst answers questions about his latest book ‘The Dream Planet of Galloway’. Why not send your questions in and see them published here along with Busst’s responses.
What is the idea behind the book?
"I always wondered where our dreams go after we dream them. The idea came when I was looking up at the stars in the night sky and decided that I wanted to base my new novel on another planet. From there I had the idea of linking my 'dream' question and another planet together."
How did you find inspiration for the plot?
"I didn't really plot the book I just went along with it, it took me
on an adventure when I was writing it. But I do love the century when pirates and tall ships where around so that was quite
an inspiration."
How did you create the characters, are they based on people?
"Some of the characters were based on my toys when I was a youngster. I built their personalities over the years and developed them into the characters they are today. Some of the others are family though."
Who designed the cover?
"I designed the cover as I didn’t want to copy other peoples work. Also as a youngster I would design my own covers for my stories, so it felt right that I should do the same for the book."
The Book concludes with Kimy saying “This is only the beginning” does this suggest a sequel?
"I'm hopping to do a sequel of Galloway to tell the whole story,
so yes."
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
"The hardest part of all was the build up to the fighting in the Gooroo lady chapter, to try and build the tension and make the reader feel it too."
Did you learn anything from writing your book, if so what was it?
"I learned that no mater how hard it is always write from the heart and dig deeper to over come your demons on paper. Just go for it no mater what other people think."
Who is your favorite Author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
"I haven’t really got a favorite Author but I like stories that flow smoothly and are easy to get into. I enjoy books that take you on a magical adventure."
What books have influenced your life most?
"Harry Potter becuase my teacher would read them to us and my sister would buy all of them, and other books like the hobbit and the lord of the rings."
Can you share your current work with us?
"I don’t want to give too much away lets just say something big and adventurous."
Do you have advice for other writers?
"Yes, keep going and never give up. Write from your heart and how you feel inside."
Do you have anything specific that you would like to say to your readers?
"Yes, thank you so much for buying the book and supporting my work. Keep on reading and enjoying books."
